Review of the virtual seminar ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ with Jørgen Wadum

Caroline Rae has written a review of our virtual seminar ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ with Jørgen Wadum. The seminar took place on 7th April 2022. The review is published in the Autumn 2022 issue of The Picture Restorer. Please find an excerpt of the review below.

‘ (…) This detailed and thoughtful lecture, beautifully illustrated, with many slides containing close details of the artist’s painting techniques, as well as many illustrative comparative/ contextual examples, provided a wonderful journey for me from a rainy, dreich afternoon in Scotland back to the Dutch Golden Age. It was clear that the author and his collaborative colleagues have carried out far more extensive research into the artist’s practice (for example, the results of MA-XRF scanning (Macro X-ray Fluorescence scanning), which, due to reasons of space could only have a passing mention) and this fascinating introduction and the following discussion only left the attendee wanting to hear more.’
