IAP is an educational charity which has offered short courses since 1983. Over the years more than 100 different topics in the fields of conservation, technical art history, archaeology and museum studies have been taught by numerous experts.
In 2025 James Black presented a talk for the International Conference of Conservation-Restoration Studies in Croatia. Below you find a part of the recording of his presentation, in it he explained how he first came to start what is IAP today.
Many of the courses have taken place in the UK but IAP has run courses in many other countries including: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
