Call for Papers
GELS in CONSERVATION
A 3-day conference organised by International Academic Projects in association with Tate
October 16 – 18 2017, Tate Modern, London
Deadline for abstracts 15th June 2016

Presentations should focus on gel materials, application techniques, and particularly on case studies involving the use of gels in conservation treatments, and evaluations of their outcomes.
Submissions in English only are invited in the form of abstracts of ~ 500 words. These submissions should show the proposed title, author(s), and contact details for the corresponding author. Abstracts will be selected by the conference advisory committee and external peer reviewers.
Submissions for 25 minute papers, or for short papers, are welcome. Accepted short papers will be allotted a 10-minute oral presentation, with additional time for Q&A and the option to also display a poster as well. Short papers may be more appropriate for treatments, though long papers discussing treatments are also encouraged. A requirement of submission is that one of the authors of each selected paper must attend the conference to present the work to the audience. Authors presenting papers are encouraged to deliver a precis of the points covered in the paper in the preprints, and to discuss additional and/or more recent material where appropriate.
The conference proceedings will be published as printed preprints available on the day of the conference, and it is planned that the papers will be available online shortly after the conference. Papers will only be accepted on the basis that the author undertakes to submit a final text for publication, complete with high-quality images (all cleared for reproduction in the printed preprints and also for the online version) by January 15th 2017.

Topics suggested are shown below (but are not limited to):

  • The theory of gels
  • Recent developments in gel technologies
  • Clearance and residues
  • Systematic evaluation of gel properties and effects

Once an abstract has been accepted for inclusion in the conference, authors will be sent the Publisher’s guidelines for text and images for both long and short papers.

To submit an abstract for a paper or short paper (please indicate which) please send a WORD or PDF file to info@academicprojects.co.uk with a summary (500 word maximum) including the provisional title and the name of the principal and other authors.
